Opened in July 2007, Great Lakes Safaris invites you for a stay at our Safari Lodge in the middle of this wonderful forest! Whether you bring your own tent, prefer to stay in middle class accommodation or wish a high level of luxury and comfort, Primate Lodge Kibale is the place! It is suitated in Kibale Forest National Park that harbours the greatest variety and concentration of primates found anywhere in Africa. Not less than thirteen different species are living in this tropical forest, including human’s closest relative, the chimpanzee.
Our luxury tented camp consists of eight deluxe safari tents in African style. They are raised on a wooden platform, offering a splendid view at the surrounding forest. The private situated tents are featured with a spacious veranda, comfortable twin beds and en-suite bathroom.
After waking up with the sounds of nature, follow the natural walking way to a spacious open restaurant where a delicious breakfast will be served. The restaurant provides local and international cuisine. Adjacent is a well-stocked bar and cosy lounge to spend the afternoons or evenings pleasantly. Or gather around the unique fire place where you can over think the Uganda tours of the day.
But this is not all! In addition to the luxury tented camp, we also offer recently renovated, comfortable forest cottages. They are privately situated in the forest, with their own veranda, spacious bedroom and en-suite bathroom. The adventurous travellers are welcome to spend a night high up in our unique Sky Tree House, with a magnificent view over the elephant wallow. Finally, a well- maintained camp-site with shared washing facilities is available for backpackers who want to bring their own tent.
Obviously, the local community is highly involved in different areas, ranging from the supply of local products and employment, to providing handmade crafts and cultural performances.
The most important Uganda safari activity in the lodge’s surroundings is of course the chimp trekking, offered in the morning and afternoon. The young among us can enjoy a guided nature walk while being educated and entertained by experienced ranger guides. The habituation experience will give you the opportunity to come face to face with the chimps in a very special way. Moreover, a nocturnal walk will be organized where you will go in search of the bush-baby and potto at night.

The cabins are spacious and provide a twin or double bed and sitting area. Each of them has an en-suite bathroom with shower and eco-toilet and a private veranda overlooking the forest. In addition, there are four dormitory rooms with two double deckers in each room (max. 4 people) and shared washing facilities.

At the visitor’s centre you will find a lounge area to relax or read a book. It also displays different animals skeletons, fossils and snares that were removed from the forest. The Craft Shop offers a small yet nice selection of indigenous Uganda crafts.
A well developed and extensive trail system of 115 km is found throughout the forest, which enables a variety of eco-tourism activities. Enjoy a guided primate walk in search of the chimpanzee community or spend a full day in the life of the chimps with our Chimpanzee Habituation Project.

Other Accommodation in and around Uganda
Uganda has a wide range of standards when it comes to places to stay – from five star hotels and first class luxury Lodges and Camps, to rustic bush camps, guesthouses and campsites.
However, different in style and location these facilities might have, there is something common to all of them and that is the hospitality and the welcome that a visitor to Uganda is accorded. A smile and warm welcome runs deep in Uganda’s culture and every visitor to Uganda is entitled to that experience.
Accommodation is not that expensive in Uganda. You can get a reasonably good hotel room for as little as $ 35 a night. Whatever your budget and taste, you will be able to find something that suits you, from the 5-star Sheraton in the centre of Kampala to Speke Resort Munyonyo on the shores of Lake Victoria and Hotel International on Muyenga Hill overlooking the city.
There are hotels of varying standards in all the major town. All the National Parks and major tourist sites have either hotels or camping sites or both. Camping charges can be as low as $5 a night. You can bring your own tent, buy or hire one Kampala.
